From the moment you arrive at this ecolodge in Nuquí, you will be met by a dedicated staff with over eighteen years of experience. The lodge-style hotel has seven rooms which, like everything else at El Cantil, have been created for nature lovers, divers, surfers and people who need to take a break from the overwhelming pace and stress of the city. Their friendly and respectful team is always thinking about their guests, and because they know your holidays are very important, from the moment you arrive they are focused on giving you the best service, offering multiple activities and short trips in the surrounding area of the hotel that will allow you to have the best vacation possible in Nuquí — one of the best preserved natural destinations in Colombia.

El Cantil has seven comfortable rooms for single, double and multiple occupancy. The simple architectural design lacks excess and gently blends in with the surrounding natural environment, ensuring you a peaceful and harmonious rest. The cabins are built with immunised wood, shingle roofs, and each has its own spacious bathroom with jungle views. Every room has good quality mattresses and mosquito nets on each bed, built-in wardrobes, and a terrace with hammocks and an ocean view.

The common areas consist of a kiosk-style restaurant with a 35-person capacity, two sun terraces with excellent ocean views and a hammock area. The panoramic view from the restaurant makes breakfasts, lunches and dinners unique experiences, which, added to the famous flavours of the hotel's seafood menu, will not let you forget your visit to El Cantil.

El Cantil has been accredited with the Colombian Environmental Seal, and the Certification in High Level Touristic Sustainability as given by Swiss-based company, Cotectna. El Cantil has been catalogued by Lonely Planet Colombia tourist guide as the number one ecolodge in Colombia and one of the top 11 places to eat in Colombia. They have also been featured in National Geographic Traveler's favourite hotels in South America. This has put El Cantil on the map as one of Colombia's greenest and most recommended hotels and the ideal place to spend a unique vacation.

As a legal and certified micro-company they stay away from corrupt practises, oppose tax evasion, and aim to achieve their objectives under the principles of sustainability and care of our natural environment and local communities. They orient their community projects towards support for our surrounding communities in three different ways: through education by looking to minimise the academic gap in the country; encouraging local entrepreneurship by helping locals to position themselves in the tourism value chain to improve their quality of life; and by providing support in sports like surfing for local children and youths.

Their is no lack of activities, either. Go here  to explore their many packages.

When describing their ideal guest, this is it:

"Our guests are looking for a natural environment that hasn't overdeveloped its tourism industry and offers a natural setting for activities such as surfing and hiking; a quiet place where they can spend quality time with their partner or family with no distractions. They're usually cultured people who are interested in literature, being in good health, travelling and learning about other cultures. They inform themselves before travelling and are eager to try the local cuisine. Our customers like to reflect in a peaceful place and talk to other travellers and locals; they have a high environmental conscience and are sensitive towards low income communities. They're people who want to show their kids that life is more than shopping malls and virtual fantasies; that reality can overcome the imaginary. They're looking not just for the kind of luxury you would find at a common hotel, nor for a cheap place to stay, but for a serious and professional hotel that values quality, supports legality and assists the communities they work in. Our customers appreciate good value but are not on a constant hunt for a bargain; they expect great service, demand sustainable practises and avoid false eco-practises (green washing)".

As a guest, you can expect:

To be welcomed back after hikes with cold, fresh lemonade or natural fresh juice to revitalise you after your encounter with nature. They understand the importance of small details and you won't be charged extra for this; it's all part of their service.

Fresh fruit will be taken to your room in the morning when you wake up.

The beds are all equipped with high quality mattresses and each bed has an individual mosquito net. One of the employees will come by your room at 6pm to set up your net for your comfort.

The hotel has 110 W electric power in the restaurant where you will be able to recharge your batteries between 6-10 pm. This energy is created by a Pelton micro turbine generator, which produces the smallest possible impact on the environment. The rest of the hotel has oil lamps which give the ambiance a romantic and warm feeling.

And on a last note, this is where the rich and famous go : )

A few notable characters who have vacationed at El Cantil Ecolodge are Colombian actors Consuelo Luzardo, Jorge López and Kathy Sáenz; model, Carolina Castro; and Pía Barragán, TV presenter and director of companies such as Corona, Suramericana, Pintuco, Protección, Universidad de Antioquia, Federación Nacional de Cafeteros, Almacenes Éxito, among others. They chose to rest at this lodge, and like them, you can also lay back and relax during your vacation here.
